Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the SIPlay App not show baseball schedules?

All Ages

In late 2016, the Kiwanis Club of Hudson moved their website to a new platform.  SIPlay is one of the top youth sports web service providers in the market and provides for a new look and more advanced features than the previous platform.  The initial move in Fall of 2016 was completed for travel basketball.  Administering SIPlay for our program is still being evaluated by Kiwanis Baseball so we are using the older platform this season.  Look for us to be up to speed for the 2018 season.

What happened to "Little League" from previous years?

Minor/Major Leagues (9-12)
Challenger League

In 2014, the Hudson Kiwanis Baseball Board decided to end our affiliation with Little League International of Williamsport, PA.  This program required that we end our regular season prior to July 4th and we felt that this limited our ability to make a "summer of baseball" available to our community.  We will retain the league names of "Minor" for 9/10 year olds and "Major" for the 11/12 year olds.  We will also continue with the Challenger League program as in prior years.

Who umpires the games?

For Minor, Major and 13-14 Leagues we utilize youth umpires.  Adult umpires are used for the High School League.  There are no umpires furnished for the younger leagues.

How does my child become an umpire in your program?

They must first submit an online umpire registration and have the confirmation signed by a parent or legal guardian.  Our Umpire Coordinator conducts indoor training sessions to set expectations and review the rules and then outdoor field training as we get closer to the season.  All communication is handled via email.

Are the umpires paid?

The youth umpires are compensated after the season ends based upon the number of games and umpiring position they work for specific games.  This will be explained in detail during the indoor training sessions.
